How to Remove Glass Stickers?(Part 1)

Most stickers are made from adhesive materials that can be used repeatedly. Sometimes, the stickers on the glass are difficult to remove, and there are still ugly glue marks no matter how you do it; disposable stickers are especially headache. In fact, you only need to repeatedly scrub some household items to remove the removable window decals and glue marks on the glass surface.

Method 1. hot water and soap

① Soak glass objects with stickers in hot soapy water. Immersion helps to soften the vinyl in the sticker. After 10 to 30 minutes, gently touch it with your finger, the sticker can be separated from the glass surface.

Soapy water can dissolve the glue and destroy the bond between the sticker and the glass surface.

If the glass cannot be soaked in water, put a towel or sponge in hot soapy water and cover it with a sticker.

② Remove the stickers. Use your fingers to slowly peel off the sticker, or use an unsharp knife to carefully pry up the corner of the sticker and pick it off little by little.

Be sure to choose a knife that is not sharp to the touch to avoid scratching the glass surface.

There are also special small spatula on the market to help remove the adhesive that sticks to the surface of the object.

Method 2. baking soda

③ Mix equal amounts of soda flour and cooking oil. Soda powder is non-toxic and natural, and it is not harmful to children and pets at home. People often use it as a cleaning agent to remove stains and dissolve grease. After baking soda powder and cooking oil into a paste, you can easily apply it on the surface of the object.

You can choose any cooking oil. Olive oil, rapeseed oil, or other vegetable oils will do.

④ Protect the stickers. You don't want to get the mixture or damaged parts. Cover these parts with cloth or paper, and then seal the edges with paper tape.

Materials to be protected include plastic, painted surfaces, wood and fabric.

Soda powder is relatively safe. If it is accidentally dropped on the surface or skin of these materials, as long as it is wiped off immediately, it should not cause any harm.

⑤ Apply the pasty mixture to the glass surface. Wait a few minutes for the baking soda to work.

If the sticker is very sticky, you may need to leave it overnight.

⑥ Wipe clean the mixture. At this time, you can wipe off the fully softened stickers and residue with a little force.

You can also increase the friction with sandpaper or fine steel wool. Be careful not to apply excessive force to scratch the glass surface.
